Food Friday vol. 5

It is not that bad to be a student as long as you use the money you've got the smart way.

FoodFriday is a new concept where I will present new dishes / recipes for you every friday. So after I a while it will also be a challenge for me to come up with something new. It's gonna be exciting - at least for me. Will I make it?

First up! : Grilled BBQ ribs together with mixed salad and my favourite homemade thyme fries.
Second: Spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce with peppers and champignon served with green salad.
Third: Wok with chicken, chili and oyster sauce. Yummy yummy in my tummy!
Fourth: Norwegian salmon with broccoli, carrots, potato.

Fifth: A really nice weekend dish: Marinated pork siroloin together with thyme potates and mixed salad. The smell of this platter makes my mouth water.

The home made thyme fries are so easily made!
Turn the kitchen oven on 225 deegrees celsius.
Cut up as many potatoboates as you want.
Add a small amount of oil, some salt and a lot of thyme to the potatoes.
Mix it all together and let it stay in the oven for about 25 minutes.
EAT.

I eat salmon at lest twice a week. Cheap, healthy and so tasty.

I still get wildly enthusiastic about little things... I play with leaves. I skip down the street and run against the wind.

I'm becoming a tourist in my own hometown now.

I took the airplane back home last weekend. And God knows that I needed it so badly. The two days before I left I couldn't even study, because everything that was in my mind was that I was soon to hug my mum, dad and little sister. It felt like I hadn't seen them for months. And that's sort of true. I travelled from 22. of March, came home and stayed home in the month of May, and then I left again for two more months(South Africa). After my Africa trip I had only four days of packing down all my stuff and move out. So when I came home this weekend I hadn't seen them for almost four months.

The second best thing about going home, after seeing my family again, is the lovely shitty weather (yes, seriously) we have on the northwestern island we live on. Me, my sisters and my dad went out to the coast to look at the wild sea and to get the feeling of the wind dragging so much in our clothes that we almost toppled over. Best feeling.

I hope you get the joke of the last picture.
(Blogspot kills the colors of these pictures. Hooray.)

- Have you ever had the feeling of being carried away by the wind?

Food Friday vol. 2

How to make homemade tomato sauce with minced meat:
You need:
oil
minced meat
1 can of tinned tomatoes
(water)
(sachet sauce (kjøttsaus/spaghettisaus på pose))
red chili
red peppers
fresh champignon
salt
pepper
oregano

(The volume you add of each ingredients is relative. If you're hungry, add some more... Always start with adjusting the amount of tinned tomatoes after the amount of minced meat.)
Heat oil in a pan. Fry minced meat in the oil.
Add tinned tomatoes and water. (The amount of water should always be half of the amount of tinned tomatoes.)
(I usually also use a small amount of sachet sauce(meat sauce/spaghetti) just to make the sauce thicker, but this is not necessary.)
Then add freshly chopped champignon, red chili and red peppers, and spice it up with some oregano, salt and black pepper from a grinder and let it cook for about twenty minutes.
If it looks like your sauce is about to dry out, add some more water.
Serve together with spaghetti or penne and some salad of your own choice and listen to your favourite music while you eat.
Bon appetit!

Dum Vivimus Vivamus

Ta steg for steg, sørg for å gjøre litt for deg selv hver dag.

Jeg har klistra opp Dum vivimus vivamus på veggen over senga mi for å få det slengt i trynet hver kveld før jeg sovner. Foreløpig har det vært veldig lurt.

- Hva er det siste du gjorde bare for deg selv?
